Location Emmaus is a sustainable residential building, especially for vulnerable people with a request for help. If independent housing no longer exists, sheltered residential groups have also been realized internally. With a floor area of 6,800 m2, the care location Emmaus provides space for 40 apartments for the elderly with a care need. The design is made by architect Anna Zinkweg, the construction was realized in 14.5 months by Bouwonderneming Stout BV.
The goal: No institutional and old-fashioned appearance, but a modern, homely, contemporary, warm and accessible look.
Time had caught up with the traditional care home. The old care building of Emmaus was partly from the sixties and partly from the eighties of the last century. Different architectural styles and an old-fashioned interior. In the middle of Zoeterwoude-Dorp next to the old building a new residential care building was realized (care institution WIJdezorg)
The client wanted a beautiful building, strongly anchored in the village with a long life.
The goal: No institutional and old-fashioned appearance, but a modern, homely, contemporary, warm and accessible look. People with dementia can distinguish colors less, so bright and cheerful colors have been used during this project. For that reason, many natural colors and wallpapers with various decorative designs have also been applied. 8,000m2 of our existing, different collections have been used for the corridors and common areas; Madras, Infinity, Trilogy & Ravi.
The traffic areas have a quiet base with different shades of Infinity, complemented by striking wallpapers such as the golden Ravi and a black Trilogy. Both wall finishes, in deep colors, have a wonderful effect on the quiet basis. The exciting structure of this wallpaper invites you to touch. The living rooms partly have colored walls with the chic Madras. The living rooms announce themselves in the corridor with the same madras color as inside. This also has a guiding effect and gives color to the more sober gaits. All residents and employees are very satisfied with the result.
