At BN Walls we feel responsible for people, for the environment and for supplying high-quality products and services.
Sustainability is a key priority in the operations of BN Walls. Not only must our products excel in terms of sustainability, but they must also meet the applicable safety and environmental requirements. Our products are, where possible, FSC™-certified (FSC-C100728). We endeavour to ensure client satisfaction, thereby building and maintaining enduring relationships. Our operating processes are aimed at supplying products and services that comply with the applicable legal and other requirements and any specific requirements, wishes and expectations of our clients. BN Walls fulfils its responsibility and is keen to contribute to an environmentally and economically sustainable society. We know that our actions have an impact and so we try to make a contribution in terms of policy and influence.
In order to ensure that products are sustainable, it’s essential that they are made to last. This requires sound quality and timeless design. A timeless design can, after all, last a lifetime. Our products stand out in terms of robustness, meaning that they last longer than average, regardless of how often and intensively they are used.
The Forest Stewardship Council™ (FSC) endeavours to preserve the world’s forests through responsible forest management. The FSC has drawn up responsible forest management standards that strike the right balance between environmental, social and economic aspects. BN International products are where possible FSC-certified, which contributes to preserving forests and ensuring a healthy living environment for people and wildlife.
On 25 August 2010, BN International was FSC-certified by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) for the Chain of Custody: SCS-COC-003420. This allows products to be sold with the status ‘FSC Mix Credit’.
BN Walls works hard to reduce its environmental footprint. In order to achieve this, it’s essential to have a proper insight into our manufacturing process.
We use a specific calculation method to calculate our carbon footprint. This enables us to anticipate new developments at an early stage and to determine how we can secure greater environmental gains in the future. We constantly endeavour to use raw materials carefully and to reduce energy consumption in our manufacturing process. A few of our key priorities are: using LED lighting, tracking down and repairing any compressed air leaks and reducing the power consumption of our compressors at zero-load. We also work constantly to optimise our logistics chain, allowing us to reduce transport operations and arrange them more efficiently. Finally, BN Walls applies a unique method in its ultra-modern colour-dosing line. This makes us one of the few manufacturers that can reuse residual paste and incorporate it in other products. This reduces the volume of raw materials required and also cuts down on waste. In 2018 our paste mixing system recovered the 3.8% residual paste that was contained in all production containers. We reused 80% of that residual paste and ultimately disposed of 20% of it as waste.

Multi-annual Energy Efficiency Agreement (MJA) and Energy Efficiency Plan
BN Walls is a signatory to the Multi-annual Energy Efficiency Agreement, known in Dutch as the ‘MJA’. The MJA is a voluntary (but not obligation-free) agreement between government, businesses and institutions to improve the energy efficiency of products, services and processes and to reduce fossil fuel consumption. In connection with the MJA we have drawn up our own Energy Efficiency Plan, which contains measures for achieving energy-efficiency gains in the period 2017-2020. Energy performance indicators have been set for the key energy users, using reference energy consumption figures to monitor energy use.
